For brief stretches Thursday night, Turnstile raged and throttled like any other hardcore punk band might: Furious vocals, brutal guitars, singer Brendan Yates landing spin-jumps off the drum kit riser as the Stone Pony Summer Stage crowd churned below.

Then came the swerves — the unlikely, genre-busting traces that have launched the Baltimore five-piece as hardcore’s bar-none Band of the Moment, and earned the experimental group heaps of critical praise, particularly fawning over 2021′s beaming “Glow On” LP (SPIN magazine’s album of the year).
